Historian and author Professor Robin Prior, talks about the Great War career of British general Sir Henry Rawlinson who served in the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front. Rawlinson held a number of command roles including commander of IV Corps, 4th Army and 5th Army. He planned a number of operations including Nerve Chapelle (1915), Loos (1915), the Somme (1916) and the Hundred Days (1918). Robin considers how effective a general Rawlinson was and how his battle experience shaped the nature of the battles he planned.
